I lied.

Yeah, I know what I said about that last post being the last post until I had this current chapter complete.

Progress is currently a matter of two granite blocks grinding against each other with the hopes of moving a couple centimeters, to put it lightly. I'm really sad that I wasn't able to get an update out for the game's anniversary, seeing as that was my original goal this summer. Currently sitting here working on Engineering and Physics homework... My engineering class doesn't even begin until tomorrow and they already have me doing work!

Point being, I've had a few folks ask me about the state of the game, update frequency, and writing.

The state of the game is thus: Work Study permitting, I'll continue to work on Jenallia's wrath. For those expecting a ton of new plot and story: I'm sorry (see below), for those expecting a bunch of smut: Rejoice! Progress will continue, and hopefully pick up the pace a bit, but it's still going to be slow going simply due to time constraints. (I've debated bringing my laptop to school on Tuesdays since I have a 3 hour gap in between learning how to be a teacher and engineering.) I love to produce content for you guys- This has always been the case! ... But this game is relatively low on my list of "important things I need to do as soon as possible."


Update Frequency: This is the smut update. This update will feature by far more porn than probably 3, 4 updates combined. For those who have followed the project, while I like the sexual literature being in the game, it is probably my biggest block and takes longer than any other part of the game to produce.

The reason? I figure that it's far enough into the game that people who just wanted porn have to work for it, and early enough into the game that it gets the mass porn wave out of folks' systems.

What does this mean for development? It means that it will likely speed up as soon as this chapter is finished as each chapter afterwards will have a maximum of 5 to 7 scenes. They may even have none. This means I need your opinions on a very important change to how I do things though.


I'm considering releasing the sex scenes as "patches" in future updates. The actual update will be released, and then I'll release a "patch" players can download that adds in the sex scenes for that chapter. This would allow me to get out storyline updates a little more quickly. Additionally, players who are waiting for a story update will have a more definitive timeframe between updates, and folks who want the sex with it can just wait a bit longer for the "premium" bonus. (It would be in the sense of everything leading up to the sex scene being in, with the scene itself having an "IOU," or "TBA" in its place.) Poll on the forums or comment below with opinions.


Writing: I've had folks ask me about writing, so here's my official stance on it, since it's changed a bit over the course of this project admittedly. Please note that you are always welcome to send suggestions and things you'd like to see my way and I'll look over them. I love to look over them since they sometimes give me a fresh perspective. These guidelines are for folks who want to write out a piece of actual story.

1. All writers who want to add their own little piece should PM me, preferably on the LoK forums since I check those most frequently.
2. I reserve the right to decline any writing submission sent to me.
3. I am not a grammar/spelling nazi, so chances are if I decline it, it has to do with the content or how it would affect the story.
4. If I decline it, I will tell you why I declined it. E.G. "I can't see Nytarra willingly having sex with the three-eyed giant mantis that's going to eat her head afterwards." (If someone jokingly writes out a script for that I might consider adding it for shits and giggles)
5. I reserve the right to alter submissions, but will inform folks about if I plan to or not so that they can decide if they still want me to add it or not.
6. You will receive full credit OOCly at the beginning of a sub quest or story you submit.
7. This doesn't apply to books. Books added to the game are much more lenient about getting through unless they're incredibly obscene. Anyone who wants to write a book should just write a short story/long story/story and send it to me if you'd like it added.
6. The only rule I have that doesn't fall under 4 is format. I want these things to be written out like they'd appear in a play and/or program, not like someone suggesting how it would go.

Example of a format I would decline:

So like... Nytarra goes into the woods and finds this giant preying mantis, and after some talking she ends up having a choice to kill it or fuck it based on her purity/corruption and other stuff.


As far as I'm concerned, this is a suggestion, not a story or piece of writing submitted.

Example of a format I would accept: (movie pitch format)

Finding a woman crying in the streets, Nytarra asks her what's wrong. The woman proceeds to tell her about how her daughter was eaten by a giant preying mantis to which Lucien may make a quip about it not being the only thing eating her. Upon going into the woods to find this mantis, assuming Nytarra has a high corruption modifier and decent sexy skill, she imagines herself having sex with a preying mantis caused by Lucien's sexual comment earlier. The player will have the option to kill or fuck the Mantis upon encountering it.

A little more detailed, but if you don't want to come up with the dialogue, I need to at least know the basic gyst of what happens and what sort of comments you think folks might make.

Another example of a format I would accept: (script book format)

Nytarra: "Why are you crying? Is something wrong?"
Exclamation point over woman's head
If high relationship value with Lucien, question mark over his head
Woman: "My... My daughter was taken by a giant mantis the other day! I fear the worst, that she may have been eaten!"
Lucien: "Well it wouldn't be the first thing to eat her. Hmhmhm...."
Anger expression over woman's head
etc.

Basically how a scriptbook would run or how RPGmaker handles events.


Hell, you can send in a combination of the two, or other methods. It just has to be clear cut, not too obscene, realistic for the characters, and understandable. If those requirements are met, I can (and likely will) add it if it's submitted.
